The original six-foot “Chrismon” Tree was dedicated at Christmas 1978. The ornaments on our Tree of Life are “Chrismons” – a combination of CHRIST and MONogram – thus a Monogram of Christ. Many women of the church spent uncounted hours creating the more than 475 different Chrismons from white, gold, and crystal pearlshaped beads on wire that we have today. The Chrismons include over 146 varieties of crosses throughout Christian history, and 332 other symbols including stars, doves, butterflies, crowns, fish, trinity symbols and Christian monograms. In 2001 a new 12-ft tree was given to better display the many Chrismons that added since 1978.
